Alan Kulwicki


Alan Dennis Kulwicki (December 14, 1954 - April 1, 1993), nicknamed "Special K" and the "Polish Prince", was an American auto racing driver and team owner. [2] He started racing at local short tracks in Wisconsin before moving up to regional stock car touring series.

NASCAR champion Alan Kulwicki was killed in an aviation accident in 1993 when his twin turboprop aircraft crashed near Blountville, Tennessee. The probable cause was the pilot's failure to operate the engine inlet anti-ice system properly. The aircraft was a Fairchild SA227-TT Merlin pressurized, twin turboprop business aircraft, registered to Eastern Foods Inc. as a Hooters corporate aircraft.
